1991 Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes RP91 750 ml 1 $239.00
Yquem's 1991 is a beautifully made, medium gold-colored wine with a gorgeous nose of creme brulee, roasted coffee, and sweet, honeyed pineapple and other assorted fruits. Full-bodied, unctuously-textured, and rich, but not yet revealing a lot of complexity or enormous weight. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2040.
2001 Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes RP100 750 ml 1 $899.00
There are 10,000 cases of this perfect sweet white Bordeaux. The 2001 Yquem reveals a hint of green in its light gold color. While somewhat reticent aromatically, with airing, it offers up honeyed tropical fruit, orange marmalade, pineapple, sweet creme brulee, and buttered nut-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied with gorgeously refreshing acidity as well as massive concentration and unctuosity. Everything is uplifted and given laser-like focus by refreshing acidity. This large-scaled, youthful Yquem appears set to take its place among the most legendary vintages of the past, and will age effortlessly for 75+ years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2100+.

2003 Chateau de Fargues Sauternes RP93 750 ml 4 $85.00
2001 Chateau GUIRAUD Sauternes RP94 750 ml 1 $179.00
A medium gold color is accompanied by notes of caramelized oranges, citrus, honeysuckle, creme brulee, and smoke. Full-bodied and opulent, with tremendous intensity, good acidity, and a persistent finish that lasts nearly a minute, this large-scaled, thick, heady Guiraud is one of the finest examples from this estate that I have ever tasted. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2025.
2001 Climens Sauternes RP100 750 ml 6 $275.00
A prodigious offering, the 2001 Climens’ light medium bold color with a greenish hue is followed by ethereal aromas of tropical fruits (primarily pineapple), honeysuckle, and flowers. It is a medium-bodied wine of monumental richness, extraordinary precision/delineation, great purity, and moderate sweetness. The finish seemingly lasts forever. This monumental effort is the stuff of legends. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2040+.

2005 Climens Sauternes RP97 375 ml 1 $65.00
Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Climens just soars from the glass with layers of clear honey, marmalade, nectarine and minerals all beautifully carved. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, vibrant honeyed fruit that builds and builds in the mouth in tandem with a killer line of acidity. Even though it is a convincing, great Climens, you also have the impression that it is only just beginning to show what it is capable of. Bérénice Lurton and her team excelled in this vintage and it comes strongly recommended.
2001 Coutet Sauternes RP93 750 ml 3 $69.00
I tasted two bottles of the Coutet 2001. The first had a distinct, rather pungent aniseed element on the nose and a slight bitterness on the palate. Calling for a second example, this is much more representative. Here is a typical Coutet nose that is just beginning to find its groove: barley sugar and quince scents typifying Barsac, augmented by Seville orange and lime. The palate is viscous and extremely well focused with fine mineralité and tension. It feels quite youthful and linear vis-à-vis its peers and concludes with a tangy, marmalade-lavished finish. This is ageing nicely though at the same time, I would suggest that the Baly family have surpassed this with subsequent vintages.
2005 Doisy Daene Sauternes WS92 375 ml 4 $49.00
Masses of crushed grape, honey and hints of clove and nutmeg. Full-bodied, very sweet and very lively, with lots of acidity and spicy fruit. Long and flavorful, with loads of passion fruit flavor. Best after 2012. 3,750 cases made. –JS
1999 Rieussec Sauternes 375 ml 24 $40.00
1999 Rieussec Sauternes 750 ml 1 $75.00
2001 Rieussec Sauternes WS100 750 ml 5 $165.00
Number 1 Wine of the Year for 2004 by the Wine Spectator Like lemon curd on the nose, turning to honey and caramel. Full-bodied and very sweet, with fantastic concentration of ripe and botrytized fruit, yet balanced and refined. Electric acidity. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is absolutely mind-blowing. This is the greatest young Sauternes I have ever tasted. Best after 2010.

2003 Rieussec Sauternes RP96 750 ml 1 $75.00
sweet wines of Barsac and Sauternes at such an early age, as I find they typically require at least 12 months to reveal the definition/delineation so essential in these creamy, creme brulee, and honeysuckle-flavored offerings. Nevertheless, because this vintage is so highly regarded, I tasted through most of the top estates. The 2003s appear to be somewhat in the style of the 1990s, with high levels of residual sugar (higher than 2001 for the most part) as well as botrytis, low acidity, and fat, full-bodied personalities. This region’s harvest began extremely early (early September), and was completely finished within three weeks
